Dr. Leon Klempner

Dr. Leon Klempner grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens, where he was a graduate of Newtown High School. As a teen, his interests included playing basketball in the "park" (P.S. 148 schoolyard) and playing an electric guitar. It was here that he met his wife Laurie. He attended Adelphi University from 1968 to 1972 where he majored in Biology. After graduating with honors, he attended the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore from 1972 to 1975. Dr. Klempner was one of ten students accepted into the Accelerated Professional Training program - an advanced, federally funded, independent instructional program. During his sophomore year, Leon and Laurie were married.After receiving his DDS degree, Dr. Klempner attended Tufts University where he graduated with an advanced specialty certificate in Orthodontics. Following graduation he practiced for about a year in Boston, before moving back to Long Island to open the Medford office in 1978. Dr. Klempner is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics as well as a faculty member of both Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Stony Brook Dental School. He is an active member of the Cleft Palate team at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and has lectured internationally on the topic of "Early Orthodontic Techniques."
In his spare time, Leon, as he prefers to be called, enjoys computers, surfing the net, music and being with his family. He loves traveling abroad with Operation Smile, a volunteer medical group dedicated to the correction of cleft lip and palate. He has volunteered his services in China, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Honduras. Leon and Laurie have three daughters - Amy, Lisa and Jodi.

Dr. David Amram
Diplomate, American Board of Orthodontics
Dr. David Amram or Dr. David, as he prefers, is a native of Queens, N.Y. and graduated high school with honors at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science. At the age of 17 David was profiled in New York Newsday after he received a Team Leadership Award for participating in community projects in underprivileged neighborhoods. David went on to attend SUNY Binghamton where he graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. From upstate New York David then moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he received his D.M.D. degree from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine where he also graduated with honors. David then returned to New York and completed his advanced post graduate training in the specialty of Orthodontics at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he spent one year as Chief Resident.After spending two and a half years as an associate at Coolsmiles, David officially became Leon's partner in January 2006. In March 2006, David was honored to be certified by the American Board of Orthodontists as a Diplomate, reflecting the high quality of orthodontic treatment practiced at Coolsmiles. David has a keen interest in interceptive and preventive orthodontics as well as experience with adult and surgical orthodontics and is an Invisalign premier provider.
He is married to his wife Amy, an audiologist from East Northport, and has two daughters, Juliette, and Naomi. When not spending time with his family, David enjoys volunteering for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Learning for Life Program. He also enjoys playing golf and basketball and looks forward to meeting you personally.
